GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (AP) — Police are looking for a driver who pulled a woman over on a Long Island road, flashed a badge but disappeared when she threatened to call authorities.

The incident Thursday came less than a week after another Long Island man was sentenced in a yearslong crime spree he committed while conducting bogus police patrols.

In the latest case, a 41-year-old woman told Nassau County police a man driving a car with flashing lights accosted her in Garden City. He wasn’t in uniform but showed her a small silver shield.

When she said she was calling 911, he told her he’d meet her at a nearby police station and took off.

Last week, 25-year-old Henry Terry was sentenced to up to 20 years in prison for crimes that included sexually abusing and robbing people he approached in the guise of policing in Suffolk County.
