Police have arrested a Gwinnett County man they say raped a 17-year-old girl while out of jail on a work release program.

The man, who was arrested Wednesday, was a prisoner at the Gwinnett County Comprehensive Correctional Facility. He was released each day to go to work and returned to the jail each night.

Investigators said the suspect met the 17-year-old at work, but the alleged sexual assault happened at her home.

The man was in jail on drug charges. He had been part of the work release program since January.
